Earlier this year my wife told me she wanted to shoot a deer this year. She has only shot two deer previously in the 17 years we have owned our place. I told her I had just the deer for her, a post mature ten pointer with a drop tine. She has hunted diligently for him since our MLD season began in October. She was even getting up at 5:30 for the morning hunts and she is not a morning person. She also has MS and although she is able to move around fairly well, she still has her share of difficulties with it including occasional double vision. Two days ago I told her we were changing her target Buck to this mature 12 pointer as we were seeing him on a regular basis. This morning she finally got a clear shot after a lot of “shoot, don’t shoot” from me as deer were moving in and out at the feeder, she squeezed one off. Everything took off running I wasn’t sure if she hit it or not. After waiting 15 minutes, I told her I was going to look for blood. As I approached the spot where he was standing, I started looking for blood and found none. I then started making semi-circles in the direction I saw him run. I had gone about 30 yards without seeing any blood, looked up and saw him laying dead about 50 yards away. I walked back to the blind and told her I could not find any blood but then I told her, “let’s go pick him up”. She was a happy camper. This was her personal best Buck.
