    Review: JC-Optimus ILF Riser

Review of the JC-Optimus ILF risers from@John F. Mosier @John's Custom Archery:

I should have done this long ago. My apologies to John for talking so long.

I have two different laser tools, that are used to check straightness, and alignment. One is a framing laser, that does both vertical, horizontal lines, and anything in between. The other is an archery laser alignment tool used for limb alignment, and finding & setting center shot of the arrow. Both are dead nutz accurate, and using them to check & set bow alignment is a "can't miss" use of them.

The JC-Optimus is straight. Straight as the lasers.

The bolt holes, the pivot mount for the LLA's, the grip, and the stabilizer hole are all dead center of this riser, and the balance point of it all is dead center in the throat of the grip.

If you put a set of limbs on one of these risers, and things don't line up - It's not the riser - It's the limbs. Thankfully this riser has the LLA's to make the compensation.

The riser is made of "top grade" aluminum. There's zero flex, that I can detect, even with my heavy limbs mounted. Don't be fooled by some of the "knock off" risers out there. They don't compare in quality. Even though you might save a few dollars going with one of the knock offs, it just isn't worth it.

Speaking of price. You can pay a lot more for a riser, but you aren't going to get any more other than maybe a couple of adjustment things, that "you don't need" with the JC-Optimus, and it's priced very reasonably anyway.

Thank You John for having such a Great product so reasonably priced, and being such an Out Standing person to deal with.

    Rick

Been trying to get arrows to shoot from it.
      They were shooting way weak.
I could be accurate, but not satisfied with the flex for hunting.

I've about got it now. Will probably finish up the tuning later this afternoon.

If you have facebook, he's on there as John's Custom Archery.
If not, here's a phone number, and email contact for him.
            (434) 251-0924 Ljmosier@yahoo.com

He's a busy guy, but he'll answer you emails pretty quick.
If you call, and he don't answer, be sure to leave a message. He'll call you back as soon as he can.

            I know he offers 17", 19", and 21".
Maybe some other lengths, but not sure.

              I have a 26” draw.

What length riser and limbs do you recommend?

With a 26" draw, a 58 - 60 inch bow would work well for you.

I prefer the medium length limbs.

                A 17" riser with mediums makes a 60" bow, and a 15" riser with mediums makes a 58" bow.

Depending on the manufacturer of the limbs, those lengths might vary a little bit, but not enough to matter.
