The following is a checklist on “slipping spiritually”:
1. Becoming bolder in sin and with temptation.
2. Making a small matter of those sins, which once were grievous.
3. Developing a path of religion that has no cost to it.
4. Conversing more with men and their books than with God and His Book.
5. Delighting more in talking about prayer than praying.
6. Regarding the eye of man more than the eye of God.
7. Becoming divisive over some disputed point, or in promoting the interests of some party, more than the cause of Christ.
8. Growing harsh and bitter toward those whom you differ, instead of being understanding and kind.
9. Making light of the Lord’s Day and the Lord’s Table.
10. When the hope of heaven and the love of God does not interest you.
11. When the world grows sweeter to you than the Kingdom of God.
12. When death, judgment, and eternity are distasteful subjects.
