I've grilled them and smoked whole ones. They're delicious.

I've eaten fried cottontails and swamp rabbits. They are good. I tried to eat a Jack once, while camped out.. It must have been an old one.. We tried frying it. That was, and still is the toughest meat I have ever tried to chew up. Like, RedWing sole tough...

Cottontail is fit to eat. I'd have to be pretty hungry to eat jack.

I’ve only had rabbit fried, but **** it was tasty. Not sure what type of rabbit it was though.

                  Great Episode!

Jackrabbits are hares, a different culinary species that requires different seasonings and cooking methods.

Cottontails - fried with a good gravy, in stew, grilled, smoked... just about any way you want to cook them.

Jackrabbit - slow cook. I prefer a crock pot and cook them with BBQ sauce then shred like pulled pork. Also have used Mexican seasonings and made tamales.

We eat em all the time. Mommy dad has a pack of rabbit hounds so we kill one every now and then or they catch one and we’ll cook em up. Mostly only when it’s cool outside though.

Cottontails and swamp rabbits are very good but Jacks are as tough as a boot. The reason to wait until after the first hard freeze is so the weather will kill off the sickly ones. I had a friend when we were kids was cleaning a rabbit in the summer and got pricked by a bone and got what I was told was rabbit fever and was very sick for a long time.
