I was seriously looking at this when we moved back to the Central TX area. right now, I am **** glad I did not go this route considering I am 67, fat and out of shape and the humidity is taking it's toll on me. I told my wife once the metal part is up, I could do the interior construction and get someone to do the plumbing and electrical and I could finish it out. Fortunately, we found our forever home between Temple and Rogers and could not be happier except for the lack of rain and 6.46 acres to take care of.

Looking forward to your reports and pics if you decide to go the barndo route Good Luck!

Ya know, I am getting up there in advanced age. Have I told you that I love you and Kendra like a son and daughter-in-law? Before you get too far along with your plans, ya might consider an extra bedroom, down the hall, in case I outlive my wonderful, loving wife. I mean, who would take care of me if she goes first? As our mutual friend, Harry Reed, would say, "Oh, thanks"!

No, but my cousins husband (the operator) does! He and pops running cows together on the home place these days.

Well we have hit a COVID wall it seems. Main subcontractor (Building and slab) won't commit to start or verifying form pricing at this time. We have our prime explorer secondary options.

                  Anyone else seeing this?

Apparently material prices (framing) are insane right now.

Man I haven’t heard about it here . Seems like everyone is starving for a build . Material price might be the hold up . I know a few people that the quotes were almost doubled from what the original bid was . One friend 160k ended up about 220k due to material cost .

Contracted last week and picked colors this week!

Hoping we can start dirt work / pad by end of the month!

                            Not our
building , but our colors. Stone is from central texas quarry folks used on their place.

                                And so it begins!

After a very long journey we broke ground yesterday !

Neither my sister, nor I could get away , so my lovely bride drove to Shiner to be present for the shovel in the ground pic with our prime contractor (dad / daughter team) and their first subcontractor (dirt).
