We also need to stop attributing EVERYTHING to mental illness. Allowing children to play Violent video games serves absolutely NO valuable purpose, never has and never will and in SOME cases it is training children to be violent killers..
Heck I even found out today, with the help of another "violent video game defender", that our own military actuall uses the same violent games to train our military men and women on how to be, you guessed it, HIGHLY EFFICIENT KILLERS... Well imagine that!!!!

Absolutely have the right to buy what they want. I have a right to buy a suppressor, and it took me a while to get it, but I have it. Sure you can do damage with other guns, and without getting details we will never know, we won't know that it would have made any difference if he had a shotgun, a bolt gun or an AR. But having a waiting period is a pretty minor inconvenience, and one I would be willing to have, if it came in conjunction with an overhaul of our mental health infrastructure and seriously beefed up school security.

This dude was clearly an unstable individual, you buy some more time, he may go off and commit some other crime that he is locked up for during that waiting period. I don't see how we are doing ourselves any favors by putting that much pressure on a broken system to work perfectly when the consequences of failure are irreparably high

I'm not taking a position on abortion to be clear, I have my own thoughts on it but that's a whole different discussion.

This is violent crime rate in the US by year. 18 years after Roe v Wade is 1991. I don't know enough to know if they are related, but it does bear thinking about.

I agree. We do this by taking advantage of our 2nd Amendment right, training to the greatest extent that's personally possible, and being vigilant. LEOs can't be everywhere, it's up to us to look for obvious signs of things going sideways and act. It doesn't just have to be shootings, it can domestic abuse, bullying, or just witnessing something that you know is not right. It may just mean a call to the authorities, NOT saying "I'll just mind my own business". If we just pay attention I think we can find people everyday that can use just a little help or even a kind word. Sometimes little things go a long way. “All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.“ Be good men...and do something.

What did y'all do when you were kids, playing with your friends, and found an L-shaped stick? ... I pointed it at my friends and went "BANG!" Every little boy ever has done the same. ****ty parents raise ****ty children.

When laws were passed, allowing kids to sue there parents, allowing parents to sue schools, administrators, and teachers for discipling there kids. Parents giving their their young kids access to phones, inappropriate video games. Non-discipline is a real problem, you have all these so called educated psychologists who spent $100,000 on an college education, making $50 or $60k a year telling these bleeding heart parents it damages a kids personality to whip a kids a**!! Believe it or not a good ole a** whipping cures a lot of childhood or adolescent problems!!!

Yeah I would be willing to bet that school was already the "hard target" everybody keeps talking about as are most if not all Texas schools. However that only has a chance of working if procedures are followed (eg: keeping doors locked) and the armed officers on site are up to the task of protecting the children at any cost.

This is pretty evil logic...... you agree that abortion is murder but think it is ok to avoid possible future murders? Not sure what abortion has to do with this tragedy in general but the thought that you don't condone the murder of innocent lives committed in Uvalde but do condone it in other instances doesn't make sense. How'd you come up with 15 weeks?
I agree with everyone else that it is infuriating thinking about how much money we send to other countries some whom hate us instead of spending that money to face our problem there at home, there are some elections coming up. Hopefully we can vote some people into office that can effectuate the change we want to see
