The districts are so driven by liability worries very few would ever allow armed teachers. I think it's an issue best tackled on the state level.

You work in a school? I work in a HS and am former military and LE. You are way off base my friend.

Instead she decided to go back into the classroom as a 4th grade teacher. Today a 4th grader at her school brought a knife to school, and almost got away with it because (some) teachers are afraid of the kids. If it weren’t for my wife, this kid would have gotten away with nothing done to him.

Kids in elementary schools are getting away with all kinds of horrific things all in the name of not hurting feelings and singling kids out. A few weeks ago in my wife’s 4th grade class, she was in a meeting while a substitute teacher was supposed to be watching the kids. Well, the sub stepped out of the classroom for a second, and a boy attacked a girl. Full on closed fist hit, and kicked her numerous times. The substitute didn’t do a thing. My wife escorted the boy to the principles office where he got ISS for a day, that’s it.

My wife has been verbally abused by parents too wanting grades to be changed. My wife reported it and was told by administration to change the kids grades!!!

This is why teachers are leaving at an alarming rate. This is not happening at one or two schools here and there, it is happening EVERYWHERE. Until we as a society starts taking responsibility for our own actions(everyone) then this will continue.

My prayers go out to those involved.
Happens more than people know. Same thing happened to my wife teaching a grade school class in a Houston suburb. Won't name it but think Apollo rockets. GRADE SCHOOL kid with a history of problems brought a knife to stab a classmate. Administration was going to put him back in class. She said you do, I quit; they tried another class and all the teachers said no. Kid needs help and he isn't getting it in our classroom. Refer him to an alternate program. Administrators need to be empowered and not be afraid of offending. And oh yeah, bring back the paddles.

No way to secure a school without lots of police on campus! JMO. What about all the athletics and recess time for Elementary kids. I have no answers. Just thinking out loud. Be kind, I'm just in shock.

              Off base? Explain.
Do you and your background represent the majority of teachers in Texas?

              No.

                  Ill wager $100:
                  1) shooter was never involved actively in team sports
                  2) shooter has either Che Gueverra or an Anarchy on at least one shirt

When kids and adults have no purpose other than themselves and individual drive for themselves for a collective good, drive of revolution finds them. This adult was revolting. We will see more revolts of the ilk.

The LGBQT +\- Marxists will take hold of the young and pervert them to revolutionists.
Your last sentence may be more accurate than you realize in this situation.

Arming up schools or banning guns are bandaids. This is a societal problem and is a symptom and a failing society. A-holes in DC or your local school board can’t fix this.

The numbering or terminology may have changed but I spent 10 years on swat and we emphasized the priority of life was always 1. Innocent people 2. Police officers 3. Suspects. It should be the same for all officers.

If you aren’t willing to risk your life to save someone, what are you doing here?

We all understand the concept though. The #1 rule is go home at the end of the shift. The job says requires that #1 might sometimes be a challenge.
20 years at a very large agency and priority of life was never discussed or taught until I attended an ALERRT class in the late 2000's. That was around the same time they were still teaching wait for backup before entering an active shooter scene.

We now know that doesn't work and teach single man entries going straight to the shooting.

It look a very long time to get to single officer entry when it should have been common sense 30 years ago. But LE training was stuck on preserving the officer.

Here is the shooter. Of course the left is blaming far right wing and gun control instead of mental illness.
