Ever seen a hinge like this?

I’ve got a 6 year old house and one hinge creaks loud enough to wake the dead. I’ve got it narrowed down to one but it’s not a regular door hinge. Most you can remove the hinge pin for cleaning with a punch and ball peen hammer. I’ve never seen this type before and need to take it apart to clean and grease it. Anyone have any experience with this kind of hinge?

Sorry for the sideways picture. The a lot is on the top side.

Is it a self-closing door with a spring inside that hinge?

Is it the door from garage? If so its a loaded hinge. If others on that door are also loaded and can close that door automatically without that one you can replace with regular hinge. Door has to close on its own when opened.

Don’t know about the hinge, but use graphite instead of grease to lube it.

Spring loaded hinge. Put some graphite in the slot and work it back and fourth, good as new!

              I've never seen a hinge that wd40 wouldn't silence

I think it’s supposed to be a self closing door. But it doesn’t.

That hole in the bottom is for a pin to hold the spring tension.

I have the same type on the door to the garage. Drip a little WD40 in there, emphasis on drip, and you’ll be good to go

Replace it. You said it is supposed to be self closing but it doesn't. It is broken. Replace it.

                          WD40 is not a lubricant.

But it will sure take the squeak out of a hinge!

Yes. It literally says it on the can "stops squeaks".
