Talking Alexandrai Ocasio-Cortez new Green deal

She is nuts! Just some high lights

1)"Upgrade or replace every building in US for state-of-the-art energy efficiency."

2)Totally overhaul transportation by massively expanding electric vehicle manufacturing, build charging stations everywhere, build out high- speed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary, create affordable public transit available to all, with goal to replace every combustion-engine vehicle."Build bridges across the ocean

3)-Abolish cows.

Actually "farting cows," specifically. Yes, the phrase "farting cows" appears, in this allegedly serious proposal written by an United States congresswoman. : "We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast."

This person is as dumb as anyone ever. When you read the entire green deal, you realize that anyone that thinks this is doable are just as stupid as she is.

A person would have to be so insanely stupid to believe one word of this nonsense .
And some folks think we are supposed to try and negotiate common ground with these idiots

I read somewhere that only a fraction of her voting dist actually voted and she won with only 15 thousand votes. I bet there are a lot more people in that dist that will take voting a little more seriously next time.

She is a perfect example of the old saying "better to keep your mouth shut and thought stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"...of course that is my take on that old saying. Her and Debbie Wasserman Shultz are running a race to see who can be the stupidest elected woman in politics although Maxine Waters has pretty sharp elbows to work her way into the race.

Where are you finding this?

I just read both versions of the resolutions and did not see anything about farting cows, or bridges across oceans.

And, to the other points, I upgraded the energy efficiency of my house, no real issue with that push. I have no issue with electric cars...I’m a capitalist, if the market supports it, manufacture away. And, no issue with public transportation developments or improvement - that’s part of infrastructure improvements which is something our Presidentvran in.

There’s plenty to argue about with regard to other portions, e.g. wealth disparities, global warming, unions. But, nothing in her proposal discusses how the implementation will take place. The point of the resolution is to broadly identify an issue and recite a goal. A lot of the resolution discusses preserving the environment. Again, no issue with that goal. It also discusses respecting people...not opposed to that either.

Do you have a copy of your source for us to read for ourselves?

When a socialist liberal mentions preserving the environment it means you are going to lose several freedoms.
When they mention climate change...it means you lose even more freedoms
When they say respect people it means.....do exactly as they say and dont question their motives.
The green new deal is a pipe dream that ONLY the American people would suffer under. There is not a nation anywhere on earth that would agree to such stupidity.
It's pure stupidity and it's that simple.

and lets not forget wealth disparities; I am by no means a "rich" person, but I darn sure don't expect anything from anyone that I didn't work for.

She wasn't really that detailed so i guess the first thing most sane people think of when airflight is no longer available for crossing a water body is a bridge of some sort? Maybe she should have just included her solar powered submarine transport idea into the plan...then we wouldnt have looked so stupid.

If the body of water is large enough to necessitate a flight to cross, no my first immediate alternative is not to build a bridge. Boat comes to mind far quicker than a building a bridge.

I'm no fan of hers, but I also like facts. The resolution didn't contain those things, the FAQs did.

Glad I asked for the source, so now I can know where this stuff is coming from, and can have an informed comment or opinion.

We love to talk about the left being a bunch of sheep. Unfortunately, I don't think that issue is exclusive to them.

Two things that caught my eye in this GND:

"Economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to
work"

Can I be unwilling to work?

"How will you pay for it?
The same way we paid for the New Deal, the 2008 bank bailout and extended quantitative easing programs. The same way we paid for World War II and all our current wars. The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments and new public banks can be created to extend credit. There is also space for the government to take an equity stake in projects to get a return on investment. At the end of the day, this is an investment in our economy that should grow our wealth as a nation, so the question isn’t how will we pay for it, but what will we do with our new shared prosperity."

I want less government. Not more!

Oh boy! Electric boats! No more fossil fueled transportation. Now if we can just figure a way to get that electricity out to the middle of the Atlantic to charge them batteries
Oh course they could always go back to sail power.

Oh yeah I forgot. But how we gonna melt all that glass needed for the panels with fossil fuel being outlawed. And no plastic either since we can't have oil anymore. Houston, we have a problem! We just need to think this thing though a little better.

When one unveils a plan so outlandish and said plan includes little detail as to how these initiatives will be accomplished or paid for, it leaves the public with little choice than to speculate with a critical eye.

You retro fitted your house to be energy efficient, great! What about all of the 100+ yr old homes that would need to be essentially leveled in order to accomplish this? What if your measures didnít meet her standards? What if your house couldnít accommodate the energy efficient methods she expects?

How does she expect to revolutionize farming that requires heavy machinery that electric wonít support? Letís just say John Deere creates an electric tractor, how do we get charging stations to millions of remote farming acres?

I will say this, I appreciate that she has laid out her entire vision, we now know exactly what to combat. This plan isnít democratic socialism, itís communism plain and simple. When she says this plan exceeds the aggregate financial ability of the wealthiest individuals and businesses what she is really saying is it exceeds the totality of the American economy. Remember we are always reminded that 1% control all the wealth. So every dollar from the other 99% wonít exceed the cost of all of this.

And letís not forget, gunpowder is a product of fossil fuels, so you can 100% expect a ban of gun powder. She wonít go after guns, just the one component that makes it go bang

It doesnít matter where it is. Read the whole thread for context...I looked into what the OP posted by reading the actual GND legislation/resolution and it wasnít there.

Now, since I was directed to the FAQs (thanks Hntnsumpn), I see where those statements are coming from?

To be clear, few things in life are all bad or all good. The general propositions that I mentioned earlier are not bad. Now, when the implementation is unreasonable or impractical or just plain stupid, then of course thereís reason to resist those actions.

I Don't know. She is booked full of interviews for 2019 and Netflix gave her 10 million for a documentary. Someone wants her to have lots of face time. I don't think she'll be fading away as a memory anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong though.

Correction, netfilx paid 10 mil for a documentary about her. They did not pay her 10 million direct.

I love how Libs try their best to explain this extreme, unrealistic stuff. The lady on Hannity tried her best, but couldn't support any of the individual positions, but wouldn't discount the agenda. She just would say something like "it's just a starting point" (kinda like the abortion movement is only about "women's health").

I love her. Shes just awesome in every way. Shes not like most of the liberals that have a hidden agenda to destroy capitalism. She actually believes the talking points and is going to FORCE the dems to expose themselves. Strong sauce in the House.

Correction, netfilx paid 10 mil for a documentary about her. They did not pay her 10 million direct.
Being booked full of interviews doesnít mean anything more than someone thinks they can make money having you on their show. She is the perfect candidate for that. Prone to flubs and attracts attention from both sides. One side wants to behold her as their darling, the other side mocks her as the idiot she comes off as.

The green new deal is a pipe dream that ONLY the American people would suffer under. There is not a nation anywhere on earth that would agree to such stupidity.
It's pure stupidity and it's that simple.
Well said. Let us also keep in mind that the US is only responsible for about 15% of worldwide greenhouse emissions. So are we going to save the planet like this !? What a joke.

As tedious as that was to listen to, she makes a valid point that govt is run amuck and our elected officials are lining their pockets at the expense of the American people
