They shut ours down on Jan 20th due to bucks losing their horns. In the past some were accidentally shot as does.

I am still hunting. I am having a hard time getting deer to come to corn though. I usually am through by now but it has been a screwy year for me.

Here. They call it the conservation option now instead of MLD III. But it’s the same thing. Hunting through end of Feb. got more does to take out.

Still going every once in a while. I keep hoping the bucks will think hunting season is over and a good one will slip up and walk out in the daylight.

Me. We cut our season off effective January 31 so I’m going to give it one last go on Tuesday.

We used to hunt all the way through the end of February but at that point it feels more like work than fun.

MLD III does not exist anymore as they moved to the Harvest or Conservation Option.

That being said, just let a friend shoot a doe out of my stand yesterday for meat. Bucks are coming to the feeder so I may try to get out one or two last times.

I could be, but my freezer is full. Changed feeders a week or so ago and had a couple nice youngsters on cam and one old tank that I would shoot if he and I both were there at once.

Still hunting in Trinity County. Tough year for us and we need to take a whole lot more does. Too many good eats in the woods and having a tough time drawing them out.

We hunted this weekend. We hunt does until we see the first buck with shed antlers or tags are gone. Bucks fair game until 2/28 or tags are gone.

I posed in the main forum, but why do some landowners prohibit hunting trophy bucks between Jan 20 through the end of February? Assuming antlers aren't broken off, seems like taking a trophy buck in February allows for the maximum passage of genetics versus harvesting in October/November of the same season...

I hunted yesterday and plan on the rest of the week until i get one more doe and then the freezers will be full. I freed a little nubbin buck from a hog trap before the rain started. That was the extent of my action for the afternoon.

When our lease still hunted through February it really got to where it felt like a job after a while. At some point the work has to end and the anticipation has to begin anew.

Late in the season antlers become all white and chalky before they fall off and essentially ugly or not as pretty as they are in the beginning of the season. Antlers late in the season can also be damaged and broken from the rut. Thats the only reason I can see someone making that rule, but I dont know much
