    So what is TexMex, really?

I’ve finished my business in Dallas and am about to hit the road to go home, but first, some chips-n-salsa, perhaps a little guac on the side, before I settle in for the long drive back.

So I Apple Map (verb) the closest Mexican food restaurant, I walk in only two minutes after it opens, and I am THE ONLY ONE HERE, and this is only my first clue. The music blaring from the speakers is some sort of rap-infused theme song from Raiders of the Lost Ark and their salsa is called “tzatziki.”

Oh, well. In for a penny, in for a pound.

No rice is grown in Mexico that I know of, but rice is a staple on most Tex Mex plates. True authentic Mexican food is different completely. Most that have grown up on Tex Mex may not like true Mexican food.

Sounds like what you entered was a Heinz 57 food stop!!! LOL! Good luck!

You might want to map out some solid restroom stops on your way home....just in case.

It was a Mediterranean restaurant, of the Greek and Turkish culinary cultures.

        So far,
        Greek Salad is okay.
Ixnay (sic?) on the Zucchini Pancakes w/ Warm Garlic Yogurt (tzatziki?) sauce.

Fair amount of rice faming going on in Mexico. Sinaloa, Campeche and Veracruz produce the most.

I thought tzatziki was made with cucumbers.

In any case, tzatziki is the great sauce on gyros.

You roll the dice crossing the street. Might as well try the Apple TexMex diet and enjoy it!
