Do you place cameras on the “slides “

Crazy how that cat ended up!
We do not have an apron on our high fence. If we see a hole under the fence and find coyote hair in the bottom barbwire strand then we set a snare. Haven't set up a trail camera yet.

      I could see that happening.

        Ranch Update - 4/5/2020

Here are some pictures from the past weekend. We burned another 12 brush piles and have about 40 more to go. We found the 12pt dead along with a 3yr old blackbuck that somehow found old carpet and got it stuck on his head. The 12pt is a buck we have history with and had him aged at 7.5yrs. I rough scored him and he was right at 140in.

          Ranch Update - 4/5/2020 (Cont'd)

The kids and I did some fishing and a little turkey hunting. We had more luck fishing than we did turkey hunting.

The food plots and the new pond are looking good. The silver river clover is starting to grow. These plots were broadcasted into the fields, then mowed the native vegetation over top, and then cultipacked everything. It also helped that we got a lot of rain in March.

The cottonseed consumption has gone down dramatically due to all of the native forage and food plots. They are still hitting the protein feeders but not very hard. I'm sure that we will see a large increase in consumption the warmer it gets.

Awesome pictures and thanks for the update!! I hate the natural mortality, but it happens. Things are looking good out there!

Looking good. Is the drone still working good for you? I'm considering buying that same drone.

                  5/8/2020 Update

It has been dry the past 4 weeks out there. We've only received 1/4in since the beginning of April. Hopefully we will get some more rain soon.

We got another Krivoman protein feeder. This time we bought the 2,000lb free-choice. That gives us two large free-choice feeders and two large timed-protein feeders along with the cottonseed feeders.

                      6/20/2020 Update

Sorry for not providing any updates lately. We were out there over Father's Day weekend. It's been a very dry June! I think we've only gotten 0.1in for the month of June. The deer are hammering the protein and cottonseed.

We added a couple additional cottonseed feeders and were able to catch another 4 raccoons. We set up the trail cams so i will post some pictures next month showing antler growth but from the bucks we saw they were already growing G4's.

I finally got my suppressor for my rifle. Looking forward to use it this year!

We are going through around 4,200lbs of protein per month right now and around 1,000lbs of cottonseed per month. We saw a pair of twin fawns and one of our trail cams show two big doe around 6/2 that hadn’t dropped yet.

FarmLogs is showing we got 0.9in of rain last night through this morning. I hope that’s correct bc we sure need it. Just finished applying for our MLD tags for 2020-21. We got 11 doe tags and 5 buck tags. I’m hoping to get the camera cards over the next 10 days and get an idea on our total numbers and see how the antlers are looking. I’ll be sure to post some pictures and updates.
