I bought a hunting rifle for my grandson and need to buy a picatinny scope base. What are you guys using and recommend, pros/cons? Any brands I need to avoid?
I have everything from cheap Amazon china made to Weaver and Leupold. None seem to be any better than the other. I think the trick is in the lok-tite you use I like blue lok-tite or green if I never want it to come off.
It mostly depends on the budget, the rifle make, built in moa/cant and the material it’s made of. You could choose a $20 Chinese knock off or a $400 Spuhr.
I like Badger, Near and Nightforce rails in no particular order. No matter how robust, remember the screws attaching it to the rifle are the weak link.
