Tough Goat show in Canton yesterday at the Vann FFA Alumni Show with a total of 83 Goats showing.
Talen won 2nd in class with his 80 lb goat and Reserve Grand Champion with his 90 lb Goat.

And his brother was home from college to watch. Great day in the show ring!

Congratulations! If I would have known another TBH’er was there I would have stopped and said hello. In your Boys picture, our trailer would have been parked just to the left looking at them.

Well my daughter finished in the top 10 in the Intermediate division of the Horse Skills Competition at San Antonio Stockshow. She didn’t make top 3 so won’t know officially what she placed for a few weeks. They only announce the top 3.

We will be back in San Antonio next weekend for Livestock Judging

Congrats to your daughter, niece & nephew!!!

I guess I should start doing a pre-show post. This is twice I’ve missed the chance to visit with a TBH’r.

Nathan opened SA in the first class of the show (Light Maine). Got pulled quick and sat in 5 spot for a good while. But when the chips fell, he ended 8th, three out of the $. From a structure standpoint, I had no expectations with this one. Credit to the kiddo. He showed him like a champ! Shavings nudged to cover toeing out, just the right stride speed to cover some rear structure issues. Proud of him!

Nice Trey. I always put my emphasis on the showmanship side of things with my kids. Both have won showmanship at shows in the past and I hold that at a high regard. Always love seeing kids show they’re butts off and make an animal look the best they can even if there are flaws. We will be back in San Antonio on Saturday for the Livestock Judging Competition on Sunday

My nephew won Grand Champion at SA last night in the commercial steer show, big win for Ryley Brooks, also found out today he got accepted to A & M, pretty good 24 hours.

Well got back late last night from San Antonio. My daughter didn’t Fair too well in the San Antonio Stockshow Judging Contest. The bull class absolutely kicked her rear. I don’t know if she was just tried or not paying attention or a combination of both. She will learn from the experience and get better. Overall she had a good weekend because she did so well at the Livestock Judging on Saturday.

Oh well on to the next one. We will be in Houston on March 11 for the Judging Contest there. And then after Houston we have our county show. Goats are looking great

The Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show (Grayson County)has treated my daughter pretty good so far. Monday night she was Chamion Senior Showman and today she was Champion Yorkshire Barrow. Tomorrow it’s on to the Ag Mech Show with the Gantry Crane she built. Hopefully, all of the hard work she put in will continue to be recognized.

Default Stockshow Season 2018-2019

Just got home from Houston.
Talen showed his first Major Goat. Got the gate, but learned a lot.
He finished 9th out of a 30 head Beefmaster class. Super proud to watch him get pulled for the top 10. He’ll be back next year with the same heifer. Hopefully with a calf on her side.

Next up is County in April. He’ll show his Heifer, Goat & a pen of commercial heifers.

Love all these pics as I am missing the stock shows this spring. Congrats to all the kids and much love to the parents making sure these kids get this experience. I have one in college and one is a junior in HS. Over the years they have shown rabbits, sheep, goats, a heifer, and a number of steers. My college kiddo, Kyle, wound down his career at our county show almost a year ago. Carson, my 16 year old, doesn't have much time for it with other activities but is showing a meat pen at our county this year. Anyways good luck to all at Houston and Austin and the remaining county shows.

Next stop for us - Austin. Steers continue to put on a little more cover and the chickens are getting fat.

Got a couple more Dorper ewes not quite a year old. Getting a handful together to raise a few for the boys to show. Not the greatest pics but what I have. Going to start with 6-8 head. Bought 6 so far.

Rodeo Austin was good to us today. Millie made the sale with pullets. She was in the "cry spot" at the very end when a bird a few spots up croaked. They went to the end, putting her in the "wheeew spot". This was our first year with broilers. I'm sold on it. Feathers buy steer feed!

Both kids have steers here next Tuesday.

Later this week I'll be running all over creation picking calves for next year.

We're walking zombies right now. That time of year!

My son took 4th in class in San Antonio Beefmaster Heifer. And took 5th in class at Houston with her.
We are heading to Galveston County next then she will head out to pasture. We will show her bull calf in a few open classes and she gets AI after Galveston. Hopefully she will drop a heifer this time.

We are switching it up this next round and going to Simbrah. Beefmaster has been good for the last few years but the boy wants to try this. So, away we go.

Super proud of these kids. My boys livestock judging team qualified for state this weekend at AtM. They placed 4th out of 40 team. Top 6 teams qualified for state. Whats more impressive is all 3 of these boys are freshmen and lettered at this competition. They are currently ranked 14th in state.

We took 2nd in class at Galveston County. Loaded up the Heifer and Bull calf this last Saturday.
He gets to go make babies and she is headed to get AI today.
Pick up the Simbrah and possibly a maintainer heifer in 2 weeks.
time to clean the trailer, clean the show box out, fill the box back and get ready to jackpot
