    Shot Crete a pond?

1 acre leaky pond. Holds no water...
Is shot Crete a option? To cost prohibitive?
What about broadcasting cement and then wetting it?
Looking for alternatives to a tarp. Dont think clay will work.

        If the material
Is sandy cement is an option bentonite is really the best option. Gunite would run 250 k or more

Bentonite is NOT a guarantee. I have a neighbor that has spent thousands of $$ on Bentonite, clay, etc. he finally put a liner in and it holds water now.

If you are gonna try Bentonite, don’t disc it in unless you plan to buy many tons of it. Broadcasting while water is in it is better to try.

On the XIT they would dump out hundreds of pounds of salt, cattle would come for the salt daily and their hooves packed in the soil so that it then held water.

                    Why? No clay available ?

It leaks, like really fast. There is a thin layer of silty soil and then shell. It will fill up over night and be gone in a week or two. I dont think there is enough native soil to add bentonite to.

I've thought about it but when the pond does fill, its green and slimy over night. I'm not sure it wasnt a slurry at one point.

That seems to be another hurdle. Full of phosphorus or something making it nasty.

Seems like a barrier is the only option but who has 50k for that...

But my neighbors builds and lines big lakes with clay.

                          If there is clay available.

Clay will work. Clay holds water. You just need enough of it to form a barrier.

Look at P.A.M. An outfitter friend uses it and said it will seal any pond. I have not used it but plan on trying it.
