Brownwood Area Eats?

Diamond R in Zephyr for everything.
Gomez's in Brownwood if you like a dirty, dark place with good greasy Mexican food.
Underwood's cobbler is pretty yummy.

Humphrey Pete's is good.
Underwoods is way overrated, but the fried chicken, rolls, and cobbler are good. BBQ leaves a lot to be desired. Veggie sides are just warmed up canned vegetables.
Gomez's is a good hole in the wall Mexican food place.
Prima Pasta is good Italian.
Section Hand is good.
Lemons BBQ is good.
Smitty's BBQ is good.
Runaway Train is good.
Studebakers has great hamburgers.

C’mon people...Underwoods is so terrible. Please don’t recommend this place. I would rather just go down the street to Taco Bell. I even think Big O’s is slightly better than Underwood’s.

Humphrey Pete's is good.

Seeing that Red Wagon comment made me smile. My grandparents lived in Brownwood most of their lives and loved to eat there. You smoked a couple marlboros with your meal whether you wanted to or not.... Section Hand was always good as well as Humphreys. Underwoods was good, but haven't eaten there in years. There was a good mexican place called Gomez, but again, have'nt eaten there in years.

Im From Brownwood. Go to Smittys instead of Underwoods and get real BBQ. I would go to Corinas at Lake Brownwood For Mexican. The Runaway Train for burgers and a cool experience in an old train car. Studebakers for Breakfast, and Humphrey Petes is a good Dinner place.

I second this. I was wanting to try it for years. Finally made the time and walked in and was like, "what the he......l......lllllllll" Gave it a shot and don't ever plan to go back.

It always interests me when people say this about Underwoods. The place is always packed and lines out the door. I have been eating there for over 30 years and we like the food there. When my parents come to town they ask to go there. To each their own I guess

Prima pasta in Early is good Italian. Humphrey Pete's is ok. There's a couple Mexican places in town that are pretty good. Underwoods is not very good.
