TBH BLOOD DOG TRACKING, TRAINING, & RECOVERY Thread

With all of the interest I have noticed in blood tracking dogs recently, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to folks interested in training pups/dogs to trail wounded game. This would also include seasoned tracking teams that are already working.

My hope is that we could all share our ideas, techniques, experiences, & progress reports; as well as recoveries.

And if you have any questions, by all means post them up!

I know there are quite a few veteran trackers/trainers on TBH whose knowledge would be invaluable in helping those who are just starting out. I am hoping they will chime in and perhaps share some of their insight and experiences with us. Their input would be greatly appreciated.

With the collective knowledge of the TBH crew along with comparing our field notes, we should be able to help each other become better tracking teams.

Maybe we could start the thread out by everyone posting photos of their tracking dog in training, as well as tracking teams with veteran dogs.

Here's my hound, trained him since a pup, he will water retrieve, point as well as track, and run coons all night, His natural instincts made him easy to train. Great dog and I treat him like a member of my family, Thanks, Keith

My catahoula ran her first two trails yesterday. Very short with a treat at the end. She did great on first one and so-so on the second one.

                    All Right Daisy!

No worries, she will get the hang of it in no time Bobby.

I went back and looked at the pics when you first got her, and that pup has really grown. And her face looks a lot different.

She really is a great looking pup. Congrats!

Short video of her second track. She got off the blood but found the treat pretty quick. My daughter was filming and commenting (my voice isn't that high =)) The treat was behind the oak tree.
