What a tragedy, I have to wonder if the murderer was high on anything (meth maybe)?

No excuse, but to respond to an officer interaction with gunfire smells like there was something other than normal going on with this guy.

Shooting was in Eden, Concho County. I deer and turkey hunt there. I'm asking my friend that owns the ranch if there is anything more he can tell me that we aren't getting.

Yes I saw that it was in Eden and was wondering that myself as I have been there many times..
I guess the deputies were from TG county.. A lot of meth heads out that way.. The perp looks like one too.. The big bust that just happened in Brady didn't even scratch the surface... They were all just peons in the area meth trade according to the locals..

It was Concho County. A little information I did receive is that the 28 yr old shooter was not even the dog owner. Apparently the shooter was known to have a large disdain for law enforcement. He happened to be at the location when the Deputies arrived and it appears he thought the Deputies were there for him. The situation quickly escalated unexpectedly.
The law enforcement community is small and all are very close and this has hit them very hard. Prayers out to the officers families an the entire community that has been affected by this tragic event.

So there is a strong chance he is a meth head, and was paranoid, when he saw the officers. That or just dumb as a rock. There was a city employee there also he, also shot. How often do they send a city employee with deputies to round up someone.

Hopefully they start watching the rest of his known associates and start learning more about the drug world in that area, and hopefully make a lot more busts. They need to put an end to crap like this, now and not let it get any worse.

What a terrible deal. Does anyone know who on earth they are keeping in that prison in Eden? I wonder if some of the drug world around there is still ran through that prison? Prayers up for all of those involved and close to this situation.

They should take the POS west of town and hang him in one of those big oaks along the creek. Right next to the highway.. And leave him there..

Think about raising kids---you have rules, and when the rules are broken, kids get punished. If the rules aren't enforced the kids turn out badly.

Same with adults--When you don't enforce the "little laws" then folks know there aren't consequences and then they break the big laws.

There are no appropriate words for how terrible the assault on our police has become. I have the upmost respect for all of those who risk their lives daily to serve all of us.

Just got home from the Army late this weekend after being gone since mid week. Didn't hear about this until last night...just truly horrible....

These two guys in EDEN Texas of all places, did not go to work thinking they were going to be shot to death...yes they knew the risk of their job, but I did not expect this in Eden...such a horrible situation and it's going to hit Angelo hard as well as our neighbor Eden.

Can't tell you how many people we were standing with in Carlsbad this morning waiting for the police escort.

A fund has been set up at Paint rock bank PO Box 67. Eden State Bank(per san angelo live) for both officers as well as First United Bank in Lamesa (Morgan Leonard Memorial Fund, for Samuels family) I do not know much more than that for the Paint rock or Eden but if anyone interested in Lamesa First United let me know I can help direct anything towards that or the family. Samuel grew up with my younger brothers and was always a pain in my *** around the house growing up. Turned into a great man and I had much respect for him, leaving behind a wife and 2 year old daughter. I did not know Steven Jones or anything else being put on for his family, but if anyone has any input on direct needs for his wife and kids please let me know.

Gone but never forgotten.

Stephen Jones was a great guy. We just got our pup from him last year and spent some time out at his house visiting when we picked him up. I didn't know him well, but we have a few close mutual friends, and my best buddy used to be a trooper in Brady and worked a few really big cases with Jones. Such a tragic deal. His wife and 5 young kids are all really sweet, and I can't imagine what they're going through right now.
