Another little blacktip today at 30”. Couldn’t stop catching the monster gafftops. Packed it up and headed home.

You think if one went down to pins this weekend the shark fishing would be slow due to the weather hitting the north side of the gulf?

You would find PINS closed again.
Due to storm.

Unfortunately so much back and forth with closures this summer Iíve just decided to leave PINS alone for the rest of this year. Fortunately itís not the only place to fish.

Thanks. We caught trout, blacktip, redfish, and that Spanish and a Boone and Crockett skipjack off those finger mullet we got real easy with a cast net. Just threw them in the first cut. All those predator fish were cruising right there looking for stragglers venturing out. Caught two little blacktips but with the action we had right there I kinda put the big sharks on the back burner

Finger mullet were still running last weekend. Same activity with the reds, drum, trout and Spanish. Pup sharks are really thick sometimes making it hard to leave those mullet out there. A lot of the mullet weíre catching look pretty roughed up. I didnít even bother dropping big baits last weekend we got into the good eating fish and the big rods took a backseat. Probably going down again this weekend. Kinda wanting to drop a big bait or two.

Man we were down in August and couldn't get away from the pup sharks. I caught one on a freakin red & white DSL. Any mullet would be hit almost immediately.

Not use, but we'll be running around in the bay two weeks from now. Not sure how much fishing we'll do with all the guns we're bringing.

I was fishing a surf tournament and it took first place beating a 7' long 168# Bull.

My favorite bait was live mullet as big as I could get, and I put as many on the hook as I could fit. I usually used several hooks on the last 24" of a 20' long 1/8" steel cable attached to 80# Trilene Big Game mono. I had 13 big mullet on for bait when I caught that Hammerhead...looked like a lost stringer of fish.

Sharks have a great sense of smell, but they have an AMAZING sense of electro-reception. They can sense LIVE bait even when they are upcurrent, unlike the dead bait most fishermen use.
I had to!!

Should be some good sandbar sharks migrating through right now. During the colder months that was always our main targer, and closer to spring some finetooth and blacknose would show up. Big, pregnant blacktips would show up late March or early April.
