    New Vane Prep?

Just used a potato Peeler to remove the old vanes, worked well. I can get most of the old adhesive off with the Peeler. Still feels a little rough.
What's next without pushing my luck with the peeler?

rub the arrow shaft with rubbing alcohol that should get the rest of the adhesive off

I use denatured alcohol to clean adhesive residue off with good results. You need something to cut down the old adhesive even if you scrape the glue until shaft feels smooth. If you are installing wraps, make sure to clean off wraps after you install them with soap and hot water before fletching.

I use an old pearing knife.

Then rubbing alcohol with at least 91% Isopropyl to clean the shaft of residue

          Alcohol it is then!
I heard acetone does a quick job but seems like it might mess with the carbon fiber bonding agent.

All the above, I've even used steel wool

Pull the nock and dip the arrow in acetone.

a little fine sandpaper will remove the roughness well
