I got it done last night. I decided last minute to sit in the blind while the kids and wife were at bible study and youth group. There hasn’t been a lot of daytime activity at my place over the last couple weeks, but I decided to go at least for some quiet time.
I showed up about 30 min before sunset and settled in for a quick sit. Right at 5 minute of shooting light left I turned off the camera, attached my quiver to my bow, and zipped up my back pack. As I turned to unzip my blind this nice main frame 8 was standing 50 yds in front of me staring the blind down. I am sure he heard all the zippers going.
I watched him walk all the way to 12 yds and let ‘er fly. I found only a trickle of blood, but I knew I hit him good. Just in case I eased out and let him lay over night. I should have pushed in followed where I thought he went. I found him ~60 yds from where I shot him. Looks like I hit him in the lung/liver area. He died quick but, unfortunately, the coyotes found him first.
This was my target buck for the year. I am tagged out. Now my boys can relax knowing I won’t shoot their target bucks.
