    Antler Traps

Anyone have any pics. of your antler traps and information on which ones are the best for trapping antlers? I've tried it before with the "W" formed by short metal posts and wire but never successful.

It's almost that time again and I would like to try it once more.

    Thanks.

The W works fairly well for my buddy. He forms the W with T posts and bungee cords strung post to post and then he dumps hand corn on it.

I buddy of mine was telling me about using a feed bucket. Put 2 bungee cords across the top in an X formation and cut a notch our if the side of the bucket. The buck has to reach through the notch and the bungee cords push the loose antlers off.

      Something like this.

Try and stay away from hog panel. Deer can get caught up in it

I typically find mine in 4 wheeler and tractor tires.

Antler traps are more trouble that they are worth IMO. Made some out of wire and hog panels and found more on trails to the feeders than we found in the traps. All we did was wasted a lot of time and messed up some hog panels.

Cut a small hole at the bottom of a plastic barrel, set on the ground, and fill with corn. As they reach down to get the corn their antlers hit the side of barrell and they pop right off.

I've used them and they do work to some degree. Seems like it's easier just to walk around and find them though as everything else always seems to eat all the corn before the bucks ever get to it.
