    Bloody Tarawa

And do yourself a favor and read Anvilhead’s trail buddy’s first hand account of searching and finding his grandfathers remains on the island (MOH winner Bonnyman). Powerful stuff.

No worries. It’s a fascinating story. Tarawa is not that well known, but widely considered a wake up call for US amphibious landing doctrine. The book really gets into LT Bonnyman and was really interesting.
