Always liked your posts on castboolit working up the slug and buckshot accuracy and grouping testing. I've got the lyman 525 I've cast...but have yet put together and test.

        That is awesome Leon

What is the purpose of the phillips head screw in them?

This is a plumbata-style slug. The wad stays attached to the slug to aid in flight stability and accuracy. You can shoot these from both rifled and smoothbore barrels, unlike sabot slugs, which needs rifling for flight stability.

My pet load for Lyman 525’s is the following:

          STS Remington hull
Real WAA12 wad, not the CB clone
          25 grains of Herco
          Fold crimp.

With his load out of my USH, I get 5 shots touching at 50 yards and a 4” group at 100.

I wonder how these would shoot out of our 20 gauge air shotgun... Do you sell them?

How accurate are they out of a smooth bore and what choke do you use?

                  Cool thread!

What's up with the screw in the slug?

With a smoothbore, 4-6” groups at 100 yards is easy. Rifled, 2-3”.

This slug right here is a beast. These are made by my buddy Dennis who owns Fury Custom Bullets. This is a fullbore slug for rifled barrels.
