Step in the Right Direction

Helsel said, while the teachers are not armed, the district is looking for volunteers at the school on maintenance staff to be properly trained and armed, adding that he hopes they never have to use any of the safety measures.

Sounds like they’re looking into arming some of the teachers/staff and opting for this in the meantime. Also I’m sure not all teachers will be armed so for those who aren’t this definitely seems preferable to coward and wait. Imagine being in the class with the star pitcher.
