Learned it’s a Bot Fly that lays its larva into the velvet of a buck which causes the acorn design in antlers. Pretty cool nonetheless.

I asked my buddy who is a veterinarian with a PhD in wildlife disease what could cause that and he "thought" it could be from the deer getting into some livestock feed which had some growth chemicals/hormones in it and causing a growth spurt in the antler. This one only has it on one antler so ???? I have a set with the acorns on both sides.

                          Congratulations.

A couple years ago we had a buck we called Acorn also.
