Dang is turkey hunting really that rough in texas? This will be my first ever season but I was hoping a couple weekends on an east texas wma might get me at least one bird. Pipe dream?

Last year was my first year turkey hunting Texas. Called gobblers first time out but messed up the shot. Killed a nice 11 inch beard next trip out.

Let's put together a TBH public land Turkey weekend!

I'm game. Planning on hunting Tennessee April 4-12 but could be available any weekend after that.

Public land turkey hunting available in Texas:
                    Twin Buttes April 4-May 17
Caddo Bois De Arc April 22-May 14
                    Caddo Ladonia April 22-May 14
Crown Pine Leasing April 22-May 14

This is just what I found in the PHL book.

I think twin buttes works best for me. But I'd be willing to drive just about anywhere in the state for a weekend or 2

                          Unreal isn't it!!!
I'm looking at going to OK or even on up to Kansas. Plenty of public land that does have turkeys on it.

You in Bryan? If so, I'm just up the road. If you want, maybe we could hook up and go try it. I looked into last year and the license isn't that much. Due to work, I didn't have the time to go last year. But this year, our outage will be much shorter, so looks like I will have the time. Planning on just doing a camping trip.
