New OB motors have never been cheap. But "cheap" is a relative term.

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kill-t. Gotta go!

I hear ya. My wife wanted to slug me when I bought my Suzuki DF140 back in 08 for $9300. I jokingly told her we could have bought a nice used car with a/c, power windows, power brakes, and power steering for $9300. She didn't get the humor.

I was quoted $12,900 for 90hp Suzuki from 2 different dealers.
I didn't even bother to ask for a quote on the other, a 150
              Suzuki!!!

INTRODUCTION OF THE MERCURY V12 600 HP OUTBOARD
Undoubtedly, this engine would have been timed for release with the Miami International Boat Show. This year, thanks to the Covid-19 crisis of course, there is no Miami International Boat Show. So instead Mercury chose to introduce the engine via an 11:00 o’clock video released on Facebook, followed by the product details going live on Mercury’s Facebook page. Retail pricing is said to be "in the $77,000 range."
