Incredible last week in Alaska!

What an awesome trip! I am headed to Alaska in September for the first time. What weight fly rod did they have you using for those big rainbows? I’m taking a 5 and 8 and hope that will cover everything.

I knew absolutely nothing about fly fishing before last week and still don’t know much but I did inquire about rod and reel setups for bass fishing and the guide said we were using 7 wt rods. Most of our group used the lodges equipment and according to the fly fishing purists in the group, it was top of the line stuff. Heck they even had waders to fit my big *** and size 16 wading boots to fit.

I do take me some big ol’ brogan’s! Worst part about them is then you have to put on these huge “Crocs” over the boots to protect the planes and boats and they are so dang big that my feet don’t fit in the float plane hardly at all!

Wow!! Y’all crushed it. Beautiful country and giant trout on the fly. You can’t beat that.
