Don’t see any problems with this. What’s the big rub? They’re trying to keep beginners from enjoying smoking. Sounds like a great idea. Sounds like it would be great for everyone

If they can ban simple stuff. They will go after ammo and hunting licenses.

Super slippery slope..................

Why not just ban all things deemed "unhealthy"? And, no I do not smoke.

Misread that as methanol, to which I'd have an opinion. Menthol, don't really care, but does seem like egregious overreach which we should all be accustomed to at this point.

Had a very close friend who smoked KOOLS for ever until his death. Yes he had cancer,
died from it. Sometimes in South East Asia serving our country that was all you could get. IMOP ban it.

Why do we need more government over reach telling us what we can and cannot do as adults? Educate them? Sure! Tell everyone how bad things are, but in the end it boils down to free will to make our own decisions.

I mean I agree with you, but we're pretty much paying for the health care of a lot of the menthol smokers so there's some benefit to it.

The simpler solution would be to quit paying for all the leeches in society. Smoke, no health insurance, get sick, tough. Then we could do whatever we wanted without big brother butting in. That'd require personal responsibility though. Can't have that, so let's ban yet another thing....

How many people die from weed?

Seriously though, where will it end. Sodas? Burgers?

Food addiction and obesity are next

I guess I just see smoking as an addictive drug and would rather see them go as they contribute nothing positive to society other than lung cancer, trash and how many field fires. Other than a couple smoking related family deaths, to each his own. I really don’t feel that strongly about it but I don’t think the slope is as slippery as so many are scared to think. No prob here with inaction and maybe all drugs should be legal for that matter.

If youíre gonna ban menthol, because of the cancer, why not just ban cigarettes altogether? Why pick and choose? Ban em all. And add alcohol to the mix, because it causes liver cancer. Donít forget to ban fried foods while youíre at it. Oh, and bacon...cause that has been deemed terrible by the all knowing health experts

Good grief, we are living in ridiculous times for sure

Disclaimer: I was just kidding about the bacon. Letís not get stupid with this stuff

Another example of 'you are way too dumb to take care of yourself - let Us do it for You!'

Except in this case, they are once again saying it to just one segment of society - yes the same one they say that to all the time (your too dumb to be able to get proper ID, etc...).

No smoking for me & I don't even want to breath the 2nd hand stuff.

But if you want to, that is your right and I completely support it.

If this administration wanted to save lives of any race they would run a series of PSA ads stating the simple and easy way to control yourself in any situation dealing with authority.

Slippery, slippery slope. They always wrap this type stuff in an "it's for the children" bow. Who can be against children, right?

Chip, chip, chip away. It's what they do. And it's human nature to accept such things. That is, until it affects them directly. And then it's too late.

I'm all for private campaigns aimed at educating and stopping people from smoking, but .gov regulation is not the way to go.

Look at how hard they went after big tobacco and tobacco farms. Yet, tobacco is still sold in basically every store nation wide. Why is that?

If Big Brother is doing it, you can bet that it's more about satisfying foreign interest, lobbyist and contributors

Funny how people are ok with banning something just because they don't use it or it doesn't effect them. They justify it by saying it will be better for people but who gives you the right to choose what's best for me (I dont smoke either). Total different story if they were banning bow hunting I bet!!

No I agree with you Grayson..I was just typing while in my bathtub and didn't go into elaboration as it was time to soap up and get out.
I am definitely not for overreach and I always like to reference one of my favorite poems from Martin NiemŲller when its comes to situations like these. I have already seen it in this thread...eh I don't smoke so I don't care. But sooner or later I could just as well say I don't really care that they are banning mechanical broad heads for their potential to malfunction and wound animals...because I only rifle hunt. Or to keep in the context of protecting people ..banning large soda's because I don't really drink soda's anyways. The second part is that it have seen is people's lack in action anymore to push back. Picking up phone and calling you local congressman, writing(emailing), picketing, etc etc....has all been replaced with getting on some social media platform and using a lot of exclamation marks. No wonder the left is no longer scared.

Thank god this will help us simple minded folk that cant make decisions for ourselves. Wouldn't it be easier at this point if the government just handed us an approved list of items I can have since it would be a much smaller list.

Since it's all about race, why not just ban black men from buying them since by their logic white men are evil and it's to save those poor oppressed smokers from being kept down.

Get govt out of stupid stuff like this.
