    Do’s and Dont’s Texas State/San Marcos

We are not familiar with area at all, any advice from the Brain Trust here? I’m moving my oldest into the dorms this weekend. Looking for places to stay away from, places to go, good food, bad food. Well, any advice would be helpful.

Haven't been there in years but Generally anywhere around the Campus is good. Herberts for Mexican food. It use to be Joe's Crab Shack but now its Saltgrass, sit on the deck and enjoy the scenery. Late Evening check out Jack...Just a beer Joint. At the top of the college library is a Lonesome Dove exhibit/Museum Really cool college town and enjoyed my time there.

Every school is a party school if you want it to be.

Herberts Taco Hut. Best cheese enchiladas with chile con carne on earth.

Hays County BBQ is as good as it gets.

Yes, I’m happily married. That’s is funny though. I’m mainly asking for a safety standpoint. Places to stay away from and all that.

I have frat buds who have sons & daughters going there.

The town has grown since we were there but as far as the college experience its still the same. You don't really have anything to worry about. You find the trouble, it doesn't come looking for you.

Their kids love the town as much as we did.

One of my really good buddies owns Jack's. They're closed down by the governor right now with all other bars.

Saltgrass isn't on the river anymore they built off 35.

Sewell park has been closed all summer.

The Salvation was a Sunday night staple when the cafeterias were closed while living in the dorms. You got two meals out of one.
