The dogs do really well with gut shot deer. Cole is a pretty experienced bowhunter and he is mad at himself right now for making a bad shot. That buck was a tough deal. Came straight in off the backside and faced us the entire time. Each time he would start to turn Cole would draw and he would turn right back facing us. He drew 3 times over the course of 20 minutes and had to let down each time. Even I was shook up by then. He had been at full draw for over a minute when he let that arrow fly. As much as i love bowhunting I really love the fact that my boys archery hunt all season no matter what. He could have killed this buck with a gun but he never even gave that a thought. We will find this buck and i will post pics after lunch.
