If I’m releasing fish they are either too small or they are going on the grill or being released into lake crisco. Ceviche is always a option too

Got to matagorda about 4p. Real, real slow so far. But were hoofing it, so moving spots takes a while.

Nothing, nada, zero.. not even a hardhead.

Waded 3 mile this morning hard. Moved onto cemetary and tossed out live and cut mullet.. again nothing.

We going to take a break, get some food, then head to Palacios tonight.

It's all about understanding the bay... and noticing things most others don't see. It's HOT... the trout respond to heat and if it's hot enough so do the reds.

Don't be afraid to wade DEEP... stand in 4 feet plus of water and try to find little drops or water movement. Also if you find bait the fish are never far behind.

They might not be feeding at the moment you're there but if there is bait present they will eat... if I was there I'd grab you and show you a few tricks.

Also if you're after reds they'll be stacked in the back lakes with little pressure. I know of several lakes that see almost no pressure, mainly because no one wants to put in the work to get there.

The fish are there.. and I mean thick. Unfortunately I'm boatless at the moment so I'm just hitchhiking with friends... but we find fish and lots of them.

I'm going to give Kayak fishing a go. I picked up a new-to-me kayak a few weeks ago, and I'm going to sneak out tomorrow morning for her first trip.
