Soooo close with my daughters pen of broilers. She finished 3rd on Wednesday. Our school barn had Grand Champion, 3rd, 4th, 15th and 17th in broilers. Also placed 4 turkeys.

Congrats.
I like seeing kids into showing animals.
All 3 of my sons showed until they were out of high school.
Now not 1 of my grandkids have shown anything.
1 did join 4-H this year.

Congrats to you daughter..................My granddaughter got 4th overall @ San Antonio with her Duroc and took it to Kerrville Friday and got 5th and made the sale today. She started out with 5 pigs, and this is the last one to get off the feed bill.

Total pens in SA was around 110.

Congratulations to her! We were supposed to take a barrow but we decided to take him to Houston. He would have been light weight at San Antonio. He is pretty darn good and needed to grow more. Sitting at 209 this morning and could have pushed him but not worth it.

We got 4th in broilers at SA in like 1992 Back then they were 300 pens, and we got about $1100 in the sale for fourth place. Has the prize money kept pace with inflation?
