I guess it depends mostly on what area i get inside of there.

Has anyone been out to unit 8 before ? Can you drive along that road before the season starts?

Awesome, I got unit 8 for the December 12-14 hunt. This will be my fourth hunt at Balcones but first time in this unit.

I have not received the email to pay for the permit yet. How long does it usually take to get the email?

Where is a good place to stay close? Also how do they decide who get what location in the area? In unit three it says there are 6 cones and every hunter will park at one of the cones. there are four in our group so there will only be two hunters we don't know.

Encore, in the email you receive it will say what cone you are assigned to. As far as places to stay, there are motels in Cedar Park and rv parks in the area.

Dont know, I havent hunted that unit. You can call the refuge office and they will tell you.

My email says unit 3 but when I printed the permits out they say unit 2 with cone number that unit 2 does not have. Also unit 2 only has 3 hunters and we have four in our group.

Are there two in your group are you a single?
