    Spike lives matter

How many of you guys shoot every spike you see? I shoot spikes if they are 2 years old or older, but not before. I still believe spikes may be late fawns or a product of nutrition, not inferior.

I know quite a few people that it seems all they shoot is spikes.

I had a spike 10 yards in front of me opening weekend. He was actually a 3 point. About the size of my dog. I'm not going to dirty my knife for that. If he was full size, he'd have gotten an arrow. Grown spikes get shot, baby spikes get a pass for a year.

Spikes are the only bucks that seem to be at the places I hunt

Never shot a spike and I wouldn’t unless it was one of those rare freaks 3+ years old.

I don’t shoot any 1.5 year olds and very few 2.5s.

Please post pics of your 2 year old spikes.
How much you sailing them for?
                        You offer lodging?
                        Is pea gravel supplied?
                        Have any 278 inch spikes?

Ihave read a number of articles debating the "shoot all spikes or not" issue and I have concluded that really old spikes need to go, but baby spikes need to be allowed to develop. Two separate scientifically defensible studies (one in Tx and the other in Mississippi) came to the same conclusion, that by age 3.5, bucks whose first set of antlers were spikes caught up to their branch-antlered peeers in each category of antler measurement except mass, and beyond 3.5 years the antlers were identical.
