Favorite Colorado destination?

Like others have said, Estes Park is hard to beat. If you go in the next week or two, you may still catch some fall color in the park, and the elk should be everywhere in the lower parts. RMNP is one of my favorite places.

My 2 favorite places are Estes Park & pikes peak. The trip to the top of Pikes Peak on the Cog railway was awesome

If you are going in the next month Estes Park will be a ghost town compared to Sept/Oct. Fall colors will be done, elk should still be around town, you will have not have the crowds around town which is always a good thing.

Almont. Done it a lot of times. Get a cabin on the river. A couple of decent towns close if you need that (Crested Butte), great trails to ride close, 2-3 good lakes to fish and about 20 miles of river along the way. Three Rivers Resort.

I am a big fan of Ouray. Hike up to the three lakes and take a fly rod.

If I were staying "in a town" and not on the side of a mountain, Durango for sure!
