Texas Horned Lizard (Horny Toad) and Texas Tortoise. Both were moved off the county road and into the South TX brush.

Outstanding Richard, those are two real nice critters to see roaming around Texas. Good karma for you moving those guys off a road and into the brush. Great pics!

Growing up in NorthEast Texas and never straying far as an adult, I’ve never seen a Horny Toad. Very cool.

            Very cool.
I think I've seen 4 HT in the last 20 yrs or so.
Used to catch em all the time as a kid.

That’s really cool. I haven’t seen a horny toad in years.

But like has already been mentioned I used to catch them a lot when I was a kid.

I hope that they make a comeback. I have been hearing that such is the case.

The Texas Horned Lizard we all call "horny toad" is sure ‘nuff cool, with spikes everywhere and has lots of attitude. And as SamHarper pointed out, this one that Richard saved off the road is really a beauty. Just awesome colors and patterns on that one. Go off now and make lots and lots of little horny toads, Texans miss you!

As a child I found the toads easily. Walk out to my grandparents potato garden in Springtown and find four/five. Cool critters.
