Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine
Hear the whisper of the rain drops falling soft upon the window
And make believe you love me one more time
    For the good times

        Hello walls
How’d things go for you today
        Don’t you miss her
Since she up and walked away
And I’ll bet you dread to spend
        Another lonely night with me
But lonely walls,I’ll keep you company

When you feel life ain't worth living, I just stand up
Take a look around, look up way to the sky
And when your deepest thoughts are broken
Keep on dreamin' boy, 'cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die

                      Here's one everyone should know.

I was drunk the day my mama got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in the pickup truck
She got ran over by a ****ed old train.

Yes, I am a pirate two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

I've done a bit of smugglin'
I've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami
But I ****** it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last

                          And in the end
                          the love you take
                          is equal to the love
                          you make

OP - all I can say is ‘thanks a lot Bin Laden’. I’m going to be thinking about this all day long.

IMO - one of the greatest lyrics ever written, by the great John Prine. From “Angel from Montgomery”.

… there’s flies in the kitchen, I can hear ‘em there buzzing’.
And I ain’t done nothin’ since I woke up today.
But how the hell can a person, go to work in the morning,
And come home in the evening, and have nothing to say?”

Pure genius. I can’t tell you how many times my wife has thrown that at me at the end of a day.

                              Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field
                              From a cold steel rail?
                              A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

I absolutely love Pink Floyd. Their music has more than withstood the test of time.
One of my favorites sure hits home and is fitting lyrics for today. Watch and listen to these lyrics.

"The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything”.
                              ― Albert Einstein

                              On the turning away
                              From the pale and downtrodden
                              And the words they say
                              Which we won't understand
                              Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
                              The turning away
                              It's a sin that somehow
                              Light is changing to shadow
                              And casting its shroud
                              Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
                              As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite in a silent accord
Using words, you will find, are strange
Mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night
                              No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
                              No more turning away
                              From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
                              No more turning away?
                              -Pink Floyd
