I would recommend using a hand specialist surgeon.

Thanks, I have one of the best. I think I will start with the left hand carpel tunnel

Approximately 3 years ago I had my left thumb joint (large knuckle to wrist) removed and replaced with a section of tendon from the same forearm. Thumb was basically useless before surgery and now it's probably 80-90%. The decison to have surgery was made when I could not operate my O/U shotgun during dove season. I used Dr. Hugh Frederick at the Carroll Clinic in Dallas. Recovery and rehab can be a slow process. Good luck...

Get it done now so you can bow hunt in October!

Can you still thumb wrestle after the procedure, asking for a friend?

Do they give you back your own or is it like a transmission where they just swap it out with someone else's that they already overhauled?

Best wishes for a smooth procedure and speedy recovery!

I work with a guy who had it done about 6 months ago. He basically had no grip strength before and after the procedure. He was in a flexible cast that he could take off, not a plaster one. He said it hurt like hell if he’d hit his thumb on something for a few weeks after the surgery but generally it was better. He’s mostly back to normal now but he still doesn’t have the best grip strength.

You’ve been working on your rights and lefts. Good job Curt. Gold star!

I know which hand is most important for me to operate correctly. I would start with it and would have scheduled the surgery at the start of lent. The lord would have been quite impressed if I was able to give that up for six weeks.

I broke my thumb pretty bad in high school. My joint is pretty much non existent at this point, tendons stretched, bone is rubbing on bone.

I opted to wear a cast back then instead of surgery.

Never really bothered me until the last couple years but I suspect I'll have to get it fixed at some point.

I can tell you when it's going to rain though, so I got that going for me.

That is a really good question David. I don't know.

This is close to the description I was given.
