I thought it was pretty good, certainly wasn't disappointed. I haven't read the book and don't plan on it. Martin doesn't finish anything, so I'm just gonna watch the show. I know ***** about to hit the fan, don't think the kings gonna be around very long. Should get interesting fast.

We watched last night after my wife had recorded it. We both thought that it was good and held our interest. If you never watched GOT there will be a lot that is meaningless to the viewer IMO.

For a first episode that is setting the stage for what appears to be a pretty epic showdown, I thought it was pretty good. Didn't feel like it was ever dragging, and certainly better than just about anything from the last two seasons of GoT, so hopefully having a director that isn't just mailing it in while trying to move onto Star Wars will pay dividends.

Definitely in for this one. I heard they replaced all of the old showrunners that screwed up the last few seasons of GoT. I thought it was off to a good start being the first episode where they have to set the stage...

The problem with the last two seasons of GOT was that they didn't have the books to guide the show. House of the Dragon doesn't have that problem.

Not sure what the attraction is for her but GOT was one of the very few shows my wife would tolerate that had violence and (.)(.)s so that’s a win for me. Dragons follows suit

I agree 100% on GOT. We might be running into the same problem with HOD though. It's my understanding that the show picks up in the middle of Martins "fire and blood" vol. 1., he's not written vol. 2 and it's a 2 vol. story.

We all know how Martin is about finishing stuff, that's why I haven't read fire and blood. With that being said though, I'll probably order the book as soon as the season one is over, lol.

Subtitles YES. I rewatched the first episode and it all makes much more sense to me now. Much like GOT was with all the characters and strange names/spellings.

I couldn't get halfway through the first episode, the characters seemed like made for latenight TV series quality and dialog couldn't keep my attention. Really liked the GoT series, this one's gonna be a dud. Yall let me know in a few months if that's not the case maybe I'll try it again.

Setting the groundwork and a little predictable in the first 2 episodes but it should get better.

I've really liked the show so far, I have a feeling it's going to get interesting really quick. However, I'm not real crazy about many of the characters. I really like Rhaenyra, who doesn't. But after that, not so much. Daemon will probably come around and be one of my favorites, but I didn't like that stunt he pulled joisting.

The dragon standoff on the bridge under the low sun…great scene! I like it so far, but I hear that years pass between each episode. Lots of time jumps. Will be interesting to see if they can keep from the show from becoming disjointed. Also, too much dialog imo.

I restarted GOT from season 1 after watching the first 2 episodes. It started very similar a lot of jumping around to give context of all the characters and families. I'd imagine they want to capture the interest and explain what's going on for everyone who didn't watch GOT.

Now that it got signed for a second season, I'd imagine the following seasons will have a lot bigger budgets.

So how are y’all feeling about this series now? I don’t have the names down yet but the Kings brother is really making the series work for me. It seems that he is supposed to be the villain but he’s got the balls in the family and is one bad azz killing machine.
