Sorry this is so late! The Great West Texas snowstorm of 2020 knocked out all phone and internet services!

Anyway, can’t wait to see everyone’s successes in 2021!!!

Well I suppose I’ll be first.

After struggling all season to see the right deer or have a good shot opportunity, I finally got a doe yesterday evening.

Had my 5 & 3 year old boys help me on the 40 yard recovery.

Well I shot two after dark. One got it a little forward in the shoulder and kept a $30 single bevel head as it ran off.
Guess I should be grateful to get the lighted nock back on the other end.
But after I shot that one this one gave me a 12 yard shot. Spun in a circle and ran about 60 yards spewing blood.Name: 20210102_210349.jpg

Been seeing this buck off and on most of the season. He’s an older deer with no tine length and beams don’t really turn in at all. I always said he would be culled on the last day of season if nothing else. Here we are. Really a big bodied deer. He gave me a shot ten minutes before legal shooting light was gone on the last day.

Default First Trad Kills.....Ever!

Hunted London Oaks Ranch last week. I put an axis doe and big sow in the freezer, but managed to over shoot a black buck doe. Oh well.

Hunted with Bisch, Tim King, Bob Hahn, and Zeke The Wonder Dog. All great folks to hunt with and share a camp.

If I can figure how to post a pic, I'll get 'em up for show.

Looks like a beautful day for a sit. But, I'd agree that deer usually don't move in that. The day before might have been great! Still, they have to eat sometime!

It was a pleasure to host you and Bob at London Oaks Steve! What SJP51 didn’t tell y’all in his above post was that these were his first trad kills!!! Glad I was a part of it, and congrats again!!!

Here’s pics of Steve’s axis doe and big ole sow:

The shot was a little back on the pig, and the blood trail was scant, but we put Zeke on the trail, and he beelined right to her in a very short time! I had no clue if we were on the right trail till we ran right up on the pig, stone cold dead, about 125yds or so from where it was shot in a really thick shin oak patch.

Zeke drug Bisch through 75 yards of brambles and thicket, many turns, and never let up. Walked right to her. Pretty decent little tracking dog!

Well I suck. Have sat for three days not seeing a deer. Three young doe come in at sundown, are skittish and staying out behind and to the side of the feeder ignoring the hand corn. Finally one approaches the feeder from the right. 15 yards giving me the "shoot me now position" and I whiff shooting just under her.
Thankfully at 6:30 a huge sounder came in and in spite of the low light I was able to put a good shot on this sow. She went about 30 yards bleeding like, well, a stuck hog.Name: 20210111_191545.jpg
