I think he is a touch into the 40’s - good mass and great 4’s get him there

If he doesn't, he's dang close. No way that deer is in the 120s.

High 30s - low 40s I think mass pushes him closer to 140.....and definitely older than 3.5 imo.

Probably lost a little weight chasing girlfriends too.

I have a 10 point 140 buck on my wall and he has a 22" spread. I don't think this buck has that width but he has more mass so I'm inclined to think he's close to 140.

Thanks for the replies. I think he is right at 140 myself, his lack of width is what is making it close. Like I mentioned, I was able to watch this guy at 20 yds for about 40 minutes with two other bucks there with him. He was WAY better on antlers but not on body size than the other two. He came in by himself and was there for 10-15 inhaling corn before the other two showed up. I had already made up my mind to not kill him as I just couldnt get a solid read on age. If I could have talked myself into saying he was 5.5 I would have shot him, just couldnt do it.

Just to add to the situation... this is a Schleicher county buck on the 75 acre home place we hunt. He would be the highest scoring deer we have shot off the place in the last 20+ years we have hunted out there. I have thought about this deer constantly since I saw him Saturday evening and keep trying to tell myself I made the right call.

A buck pretty close to this in another thread ranges from 120 to 150
                        Your buck getting no respect.

LOL thats funny Kirb. Guess I should have really been asking folks what they think about his age instead of his score. If I felt like he was 5+ years old I wouldnt have thought twice about killing him. There was just something about the way he acted and his look that made me think he was a younger deer.
