Lubbock PD SWAT Commander killed in the line of duty this evening

4 other officers injured, 2 in critical, while responding to an individual that had barricaded themselves in a home in Levelland. Not a lot of details yet.
    Stand-off is on going.

The suspect was taken into custody just before midnight on Thursday, July 15, 2021. He was transported to a Lubbock hospital to be treated for his injuries. Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe said robots were used to get him out of the house. The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Omar Soto-Chavira.

Not trying to be rude or confrontational simply pointing out a small oversight. Josh was the commander of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Swat Team, not the police department. Josh was an awesome guy and we’ll all miss him tremendously. Please keep his wife and his boys in your prayers and those of us that wear this uniform would appreciate if you’d all throw one up to the big man for us too. The current climate makes it more and more difficult to put this uniform on and kiss our families goodbye each day.

You are correct, I forgot it was Lubbock county swat. I also didn’t realize you were in uniform. Thank you for your service and stay safe.

Thinking the same thing. Prayers sent for the Officer's family, friends, and all those feeling this loss today.

Humbly pray our Father in Heaven surround all our first responders and protect them from harm's way.

Not to hijack the thread but to add to your last sentence as I feel the same

I attended a conference last month and a Lt. Colonel from DPS came and spoke. At the end of his speech he said something that stuck with me and I had to shake his hand because he shed light in what has become a dark room for me.

He mentioned attending fallen trooper Chad Walkers funeral in Groesbeck. He said he arrived to find 1000s of people lining the streets as the procession passed by. Little kids with flags, veterans saluting, etc. Then the little Texas town filled the football stadium to pay their respects to trooper Walker. People who didnt know Chad Walker, people who just came to support him and his blue family.

The Lt had to remind a room full of LE that those 1000s of people are who you signed that oath for. Not the media and not those who want to defund your department. When you put that uniform on and SO for your shift, remember those people who supported Tropper Walker.

Those people are your America and they have your back

Not a white perp, was a just released felon, possessed an illegal firearm….this will get swept under the rug by the media.

Absolute travesty that an officer loses his life, because of an inept penal system.

Seems like a very precise small radius drone munition could be really beneficial in these kinds of situations where a bad guy is holed up.
