    Treating trailer deck boards?

I did a quick search, but didn't find what I was looking for.

Any one use motor oil for treating trailer decking? I did this a couple of years ago. Used roughly 50/50 oil to diesel. It did well and still looked good but the decking is pretty slick when wet. It is time to reapply. What should I do differently?

I use motor oil. It doesn't stay slick for very long.

Interested as well. The boards on my new trailer have dried out enough where they will absorb whatever is needed

I used straight motor oil. Not slippery at all after a few days in the sun.

The trailer guy I rent from uses some type of flat paint or flat primer.

Ive noticed any wood painted with gloss, semigloss, satin, eggshell that gets wet and sits horizontally rots faster because the stuff innthe sheen that causes water beading also doesnt allow the wood to cure properly after getting wet.

The former PPG store manager in RR is from Puerto Rico. I asked him why tropical houses and woods are painted in flats instead of semigloss, etc…he said vapor transfer and sun.

I use a mixture of used oil and diesel.

                              Any particular reason why?
