Thanks. Might get her finished today.

      Last nights progress.

Bent some 1/2” rod on the old harbor freight bender. Will be part of the latch system.

A piece of 1/2” I.d. pipe to use with the rod.

Notched it so I can put a stop on it. Only allowing it to move so far one way or another.

      Something like this.

Thanks guys. Always fun to share.

So after I framed up the two rectangles and welded them all together with the long horizontal pieces, I realized that I made a mistake. I know we have all caught plenty of hogs with a floor in the trap, but I figure if there is a few skittish pigs in the group anything that could cause them to spook shouldn’t be there...and I totally didn’t mean to put that bottom bar there. So, out it came. I cut and welded up some 2x2x1/8 angle iron to plug the holes I made. There is a freakish looking horizontal bar tacked in place to hold the 45” opening till I braced it.

4 pieces of pipe, cut in 1” widths will be the T-post locators.

My first trap, only had two T-post locators. It held 5 pigs with no problems, but it made me think it wouldn’t hurt to add another one or two. I seriously think 3 would hold the biggest boar....but 4 looks better

So, there are some braces welded in, 4 T-post rings, and 1 piece of 1/2” solid rod welded perpendicular to add rigidity to the walls (bottom rails). From this angle you can see there is little to impede the ingress of a weary hog.

Hahha sorry man. It’s been on hold for a bit. Should get it finished up soon, maybe this weekend.

Can’t wait to see the finished project.

Especially with piggy’s trapped in awaiting summary execution.
