Contacting Sen. Shumer and Rep. Pelosi

Tried to contact them today via e-mail thru their official .gov sites to express my opinions. Guess what? Rep Pelosi would not accept my e-mail since I am not from her congressional district. Sen. Shumer's site did accept my message, and it will be interesting to read any reply I might get.

First she is an elected official of the USA representing the district she is from as well as the citizens of the USA. Second being the elected Speaker of the House of Representatives / Majority leader she is supposed to be more of a representative of all the citizens.

If it’s a popular vote wins then the candidates would totally change the area they spend time in.

Trump mostly didn’t go to California and Texas. Both large population states are good examples. The candidates do go to mostly decided states on occasion but it’s mostiy for fundraising not getting more votes.

Who knows who would have won if it was not an electoral college. It’s because the campaigns would have been entirely different.

If no candidate receives a majority of Electoral votes, the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most Electoral votes. Therefore Trump still wins with the house majority being republican at the time of the election.

(You take 38 and put it on the other side) Since neither one would have won the 270 electoral votes needed the vote would have gone to the House of Representatives to decide. In theory Trump would win since the Republicans had majority of the house at the time but with the animosity to Trump from politicians on both sides that wouldn't be a guarantee in this election.
