I might have to give the pigs a try out there after duck season. I have only sat in the deer stand a handful of times with our baby being born mid October. Finally starting to have a few days to get outdoors.

Good call yrs before you had to stop as soon as deer season and then opened up when you could feed again... that's for the correction

Doesnít look as bad as 2 weeks ago flood. Yegua area is flooded pretty bad but Nails doesnít look as bad. I guess it depends on where you hunt and how you access your stand. CR 430 on Yegua to access Box 4 and 5 is flooded bad. I saw two hunter trucks near Pecan Hill Road at Yegua on the edge of Yegua, which was barely out of the water. You can park at Box 1 and 2 of Nails but if you have to cross any creeks or really low areas then probably not going to happen by tomorrow.

Put in perspective the amount of water we have coming. The Corp is closing all boat ramps. The lake is expected to hit 11ft above in the upcoming days. Yegua Creek is holding at 13ft. Thats a LOT of water thats going to push into the reservoir. If you have camping plans in the local SPs, call and double check the status. At 11ft it will flood many of the camping sites.

To caveat on this

This flooding is perfect timing for the spring whitebass run for the creeks. Soon as the creek drops back within the banks and clears up (few weeks) youll find abundance of whitebass to be caught. In both nails and yegua. Tight Lines

They closed the gates at the lake. Yegua is still rising. The WMAs will soon be nothing but a holding lake. If youre deer hunting take waders, and throw the bow in the creek and grab a shotgun. You wont find anywhere to deer hunt..

Iím hunting right now and Iím on the only 20 yards of dry land at Somerville lol. Even if you do find a dry spot, the deer can hear you from a mile away walking through the water and mud to get to your spot. All the deer move out of the WMAs and onto dry private property ground. I probably wonít see any deer but itís a nice weekend and I just like sitting in the woods.

Nearly 100% of the land in the WMAs is in flood plain so it is all underwater or ground is very muddy. The only ďhighĒ spots will be along the WMA/private property lines. There are a few of these spots at Yegua and Nails, just look where all the trucks are parked and come join the fun. CR 125 near Box 1 Nails Creek was closed last night because of flooding, not sure about today. Good luck and be careful!

I saw zero deer this evening hunting. I usually see at least a couple of does. The deer are probably getting tired of the weekly flooding and moving out. About time for white bass then black bass season!

I hate thieves. I donít understand why other hunters would steal stuff. Can you put the picture on here so we can look out for the thief and call game warden if we see them? Somerville isnít that big shouldnít be hard to find them.

Took the day off from hunting Somerville and fished Gibbons Creek. First time I havenít caught a single fish out there. Water was low surprisingly...must have let a lot out in anticipation of all the rain. I really hope it doesnít rain too much more and allows for a good white bass season on Yegua.

Does anyone have more info on the extended season for Sommerville running to the 20th. i called the GW earlier in the season to confirm and he all he said was "that is correct."

I just called a different GW for a public proprety in another county to confirm the same over there. He stated that " no, that doesn't sound right" and he would enforce the state seasons, not what the book said. I'm looking to get a firm grasp on why I can follow the seasons in the book in one part of the state but not another.

Now I'm second guessing hunting both properties outside of the general season.

not all counties have a ML season. Lee does, reason why theyre letting us continue hunting. Dont sweat what a different game warden said for a different county.

We (brother and i) were the ones who actually brought this up first to Lee Co GW. He said the same, doesnt seen right. Season ends on the 6th. We dug deeper and talked with State HQ. And had to educate the GW..

Thru my military career ive learned paper trail EVERYTHING.

Thatís really messed up! Is it just bored locals going to steal stuff to sell or just to steal because they donít have anything else to do?!?! Itís tough enough hunting out there with the flooding and tons of other hunters....shouldnít have to worry about stuff getting stolen. I really have wanted to use game cameras out there but too worried they will get stolen. Hopefully karma will get them.

I run the cheap tasco cameras pre-season, and pull them mid September. I had 1 camera stolen that was cable locked out there last year.

Wow! Well, I was thinking about doing that and locking one up but nevermind. Iíll just continue doing it by looking for deer trails, buck sign, and big tracks. Everyone I have talked to on here and have meet out there have been really friendly and nice. I drive a 4x4 four door blue Chevy 1500 in case you ever see me out there, stop and say hello.

Last weekend, Yegua was underwater and probably still is. Nails creek has some ponds on it toward Box 2 on both sides of the road that definitely had duck hunters shooting. I donít duck hunt so Iím not the best person to tell you were to go or how to access those ponds because you have to cross creeks to access some of them.
