DIY Parkerizing

I found several recipes on the internet to make and use a Parkerizing solution. The one in the YouTube video is the one I tried. So much of what is on the internet is BS but this method really works. The picture is of a reloading die I made.

Great job on the die and that’s a great video, do you know if it matters what kind of metal you’re trying to park or if it matters? Going to use this on gun parts.

That die was made from 12L14 which is a leaded steel similar to 1018. I would expect the alloy will affect the process but have not tried it on any other alloys. I would not expect it to perform differently from commercial park solutions.
