Heck of a buck for any area, but especially the Hill Country!

Thats awesome man. Great buck. Good on you for letting him grow.

I grew up in Llano county. The mature bucks in that area are so smart because of the pressure. People just can't seem to let them grow down there though. I will say, its very rare to see a 7 year old buck in the hill country surviving on natural foliage with no additional supplements. They have a hard time surviving naturally even after 5-6 years old, particularly following post rut. The high population density and droughts really do a number on the older deer. So much competition for food.

I agree! We are working on getting our deer numbers lower so we can roll the dice on more older deer and not have as much competition for them.

I appreciate it, we do feed a lot of protein so the deer can recover quickly after the rut and build their body back before their horns start to grow.
